Colin tench Project have decided to release another song in a week's time. Just to make it clear that the album is very varied. We think you'll love this! Below is just a short part I heard while mixing that sounds great unplugged as such. Anyone who pre-ordered the album will automatically get this too. The digital release of the album is still 24th December, with CD coming in late January.
Single Release 26th September 2017
The line-up so far announced
Joe Vitale (Joe Walsh, CSN, The Eagles, Barnstorm and many others) is the drummer. Just listen to Joe Walsh albums and you'll know why we consider Vitale one of the best and most musical drummers there is.
Peter Jones (Tiger Moth Tales, Camel, Red Bazar) has been recording that most amazing voice he has.
Joey Lugassy has joined us on vocals. he is a 2 time Emmy award nominee, a brilliant singer/musician and many years ago was in BunChakeze with me.
Gordon Bennett (GorMusik), has done all the orchestral parts himself, even tho' he is also a virtuoso on guitar, he has never used it on this!
Petri Lemmy Lindström is a long time friend and collaborator and also an insanely good bassplayer!
Colin Tench That's me! I do guitars and the odd bit of piano plus a squeak here and there.
In a few hours I think we will be able to launch a facebook page with the first news about what is going on.
The snippet below really is the teeniest demo of a part of something much bigger.
Of course, the first album is still HOT! And has stayed very high in many end of year charts. The reaction to it has caused what is happening now.
Back a bit later!
This amazed us. We actually have the video of Pete Jones on Amazon prime worldwide. See USA above and Japan below for example. Now families can sit together round the fire in their mansions, 2 up/2 downs or mud huts and enjoy 4 minutes of Granny prog! It's a brave new world!
In case you aren't an Amazon subscriber, then we would say the Yellowstone is almost as nice as the Amazon
Steve Pilkington has written a brilliant review of our album for The Classic Rock Society.
Classic Rock Society is one of the most admired Classic rock magazines in the world. Unfortunately, this issue sold out in under a week, so I have grabbed the review to post but you may want to visit CRS. www.classicrocksociety.co.uk/
I do deliver all over the world, as you can see in the short professionally made video above.
Hair is a winner! No strings attached.
Hair in a G-String ended 2016 on a big high. Number 1 on Progarchives and that was never expected. I even wondered if it was "Prog enough" to be accepted by the experts there. Tho', I have a very high regard for the people that run it. Now PROG mag has maybe gone forever, we need guys like this to keep the flag flying. We spent many weeks at number 1 on bandcamp in Prog and Peter Jones was the next guy to be at number 1 there for weeks. We have hogged that spot between us for longer than I've ever seen on there before. We have made top 10s all over the place and of course, sold a few albums. In the end, it is supporters (and many of you we have grown to consider as friends now), who made this work. I guess we did our bit by making an album people seem to like. I have decided to try and learn to play guitar next. It is only fair!
Music seems to be the best way to collaborate with people in a very real way. The sum of the parts is unique and that really is something!
Amazon Reseller Tricks
I have been looking at what these strange sellers of stuff on Amazon actually do. Unique place and Emporer online are just 2 of many of these people. Look at the image. Or this link
List of Sellers of Hair in a G-String Amazon UK
They advertise our album a cent or two below our price but they stock nothing. When they sell one, they then order it from CDbaby as a wholesaler, direct to the buyer. They end up with a cut of maybe a dollar. Fine BUT.. They say 8 to 14 days delivery because they confirm the sale, take the money and then get around to ordering from CDbaby a few days later. This is fact. I have been watching.
NET RESULT: The Amazon price is forced down, the band get noticably less money and the customer get slow delivery and still pay the same price all but a couple of cents. I post the same day, as most bands would do.
What to do?
Don't offer the 20% discount on CDbaby to wholesalers (CDbaby suggest you do). Offer 10% or none at all.
The resellers don't advertise our albums, so they get paid for nothing and reduce customer service.
Don't drop your Amazon price. The reseller will instantly drop below it again. You drop $1, Reseller loses 10c. They will go as low as you dare and not care.
As for someone who wants a CD (Ours for example), get it from the band unless there is a MUCH cheaper price somewhere.
The games that get played!!
Is this song representative of the whole album? Melodic, simple, memorable, grows on you?
Yes I believe so.
Is this song just like the rest of the album?
Each song or piece, is it's own world. The album is a collection of little worlds.
The result? Music without borders.
Some call it "Prog"
We call it "Hair in a G-String"!
We can officially announce that Hair in G-String has been reviewed and that review will appear in Classic Rock UKs PROG MAG on 7th December 2016
All thanks to Prog expert, Steve Pilkington. We are in your debt Steve!!!
The CDs are spreading round the planet fast. Mums have been waiting for this.
"Why is there no Prog for us any more?" Says Betty from Bournemouth.
"I am sick of Dad Prog and X-Factor" Says Deirdre from Death Valley Springs
"I miss Queen Prog" Says Says Princess Anne of Buck Palace.
"My ears are very slow. I like slow prog" Says Tracy of Southend
The Colin Tench Project have, at last, filled that hole that so many prog mums like having filled.
Never again will you be alone in your G-String. Yes we are scratching that itch you have had for 30 years now.
The CDs are in and even on their way to the really early birds already. It takes quite a bit of work to get to this for any band. Our band is rather a big one!
Colin will talk as little as possible about it with Tony this Saturday and maybe others will join us too.
he album will get played of course!
If there are any free albums knocking around, that will happen only in the chat room of course
You can just listen in instead if you're shy like me.
The reviews and reaction to the album have been so completely positive but have thrown up some questions. Funny ones! We will try and avoid those on the show.
